"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.  Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Ephesians 5:19

This verse is the root for the Ministry of Music at Colonial Hill.  Music should be a natural outgrowth of our relationship with Jesus.  Having a heart of thanksgiving leads to a joyful response through music in worship.  When we sing to the Lord we “Speak to one another” encouraging each worshiper to join in praise.  “Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs” inform our style of worship as we try to blend our services with varying styles of music. 

The tools that make this philosophy work are various ensembles for all ages of the membership of Colonial Hill.  The Sanctuary Choir leads in worship every Sunday through supporting the congregational singing and presenting choral music that praises God and encourages the listener.  A senior adult choir called the Hallelujah Chorus meets in the fall and spring to share in worship together and participate in state and area festivals with other senior adult choirs.  A children’s music program meets during the school year to teach children the importance of music in worship and lay foundations for children to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus.  There are two handbell choirs that also meet in the spring and fall who lead in worship and present programs in the community especially during the Christmas season.  An instrumental ensemble is used from time to time to lead in our worship services.  All of these ensembles are supported and led by gifted accompanists and directors.  We are blessed with many talented and willing people who make the music ministry a success.
