Loving God, loving you.
MISSION STATEMENT
Colonial Hill is committed to loving God supremely by making disciples of Christ through loving people, witnessing, and teaching.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Thanks for stopping by our website. We hope you get the answers to your questions. If not, just call us. We think it is important for you to know something about the beliefs that make Colonial Hill different from other churches. We are not saying other churches are wrong, but we hold to some beliefs other churches may not:
- We believe in salvation by grace and through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). We do not believe salvation is earned or bought by anything we do but is a gift of God. We live a life of obedient faith, not to earn salvation, but in gratitude for it.
- We believe Jesus established two expressions of faith that are commonly called ordinances or commands. Jesus told the church to baptize believers and to participate in the Lord's Supper.
BAPTISM
We believe baptism is clearly explained in the New Testament as immersion in water as a symbol of salvation. We do not believe baptism saves you (as explained in the passage cited above), but that it is an act of obedience towards Jesus' command to be baptized as a testimony to one's new-found faith.
THE LORD'S SUPPER
We believe the Lord's Supper is also a symbol. We do not believe grace is imparted to us by participating in the Lord's Supper, but that doing so tells the world we believe Jesus' body was broken and his blood spilled so that we might be saved. We celebrate the Lord's Supper every other month, usually on Sunday night.
MEMBERSHIP
We accept members into our church in several ways:
- Via statement of faith in Christ and membership through baptism.
- Through transfer of membership from another church of like faith and practice to ours. By like faith and practice, we mean a church that baptizes people by immersion as a symbol of salvation.
- Via statement where no membership is available. Sometimes, we lose track of where our membership was or the church may no longer exist. If you tell us you were saved in a church like ours, we will simply take that statement on face value.
If these beliefs sound like yours, you might find yourself at home spiritually at Colonial Hill. I hope you will give us a chance to tell you the rest of the story of Colonial Hill and help you plug into a place of worship and service.
